Labels are not useful.

Definitions are.

We need some kind of consistency as we go into 2020

Labels are things like "Neoliberal Corporate Whore" or "Socialist" or "Libtard" or "Baby Killer"

These terms are unhelpful.

1/
Progressive is tainted. Let's give it to Bernie. It means single payer litmus tests and trashing the Democratic party.

Let's take back Liberal. Abrams, Gillum, and Beto are Liberals. They want universal healthcare through strengthening ACA, voting rights, gun control.

2/
The media tends to conflate the two. And we all know when someone is labeled "progressive," Bernie gets credit for whatever they do, even if their platform has nothing to do with his agenda.

We need a clear distinction between "Liberal" and "Progressive" going into 2020.

3/
I'm just one person, but I think we would all be happy if "progressive" wasn't such an elastic term.

Let's cede it to Bernie, so we can build and strengthen a real Liberal movement to promote REAL Democratic values instead of just advancing Bernie's toxic brand.

Exactly. Berners told me I couldn't use "progressive" in my bio if I supported Hillary. At first I left it just to spite them, but then I didn't want to be associated with their movement so I changed it.

"Democrat" has a specific definition as well. A Democrat is a member or rep of the Democratic party.

Democrats can be moderate, conservative, liberal, and apparently "progressive"

Going into 2020, it's important to draw consistent distinctions.
