A BAD NATION WITH GOOD CITIZENS
When we measure poverty, how do we account for our large number of congenitally greedy citizens in the low income band? What about dubious mechanics and carpenters that are wretched because nobody wants to give them jobs again?

Are people who have food to eat but have an incurable poverty mentality part of our poverty indices? Are sex workers, illicit drug peddlers and those who wants to live at the expense of the society part of our measurements? These questions beg for answers.

In a courtroom, a person presented for trial was weeping profusely that he knows nothing about the charge. A lawyer whispered to us "the accused has been swapped." The lawyer was confident the person pleading wasn't the person that appeared at the beginning.

I've been in d streets for long, but swapping of defendants during criminal proceedings is unimaginable! There are states in this country where every party to d justice system - Chief Judge, Prosecutor, DPP, IPO, Lawyers, Registrars, Court clerks, are crooks.

At a state's Land Registry, i observed civil servants have bank account number inscribed on their office doors. Dont ask for what. For a 'letter of administration,' public servants scolded a lawyer, "look at what d deceased left and u are offering us peanuts?"

You'll find smartly suited guys loitering at d Corporate Affairs Commission. They can forge any signature for N1000. When it comes to documents, Nigeria is a heap of forgery, and everybody involved in commercialized forgeries blame it on unemployment & poverty.

Ours is a society that thrives, buying and selling 'conscience.' Never mind, if u arrive at INEC's office to discover somebody has signed for d collection of your PVC. Governors equally have ways of determining the Electoral Officers they want in their states.

When u see us complain "Nigeria lack institutions," trust its b'cos we could see others get away desecrating the system, and it isn't our turn yet. Institutions that work dont have anything better than what we have. They only have more people who uphold rules. #AntiCorruptionDay
