Amazon's surveillance nightmare of a patent application, released last week, is totally bonkers. It has everything:
✅Real-time always-on face recognition on a DOORBELL.
✅Automatically sending "suspicious" identifications to police.

THREAD: @ACLU_NorCal tested Amazon’s facial recognition product Rekognition and it falsely matched 28 Members of Congress with mugshot photos. Here’s how we did it and what we found. aclu.org/blog/privacy-t… 1/
First we loaded 25,000 public arrest photos into Rekognition. Then asked Rekognition to compare the faces of current members of Congress against those mugshot photos at Amazon's default match setting. The results were striking. 2/
Rekognition returned 28 false matches that include Republicans and Democrats, legislators of all ages, and people from across the country. We ran this test multiple times and had it verified by an independent expert. 3/

Last week I used Abe the Donkey in real work, but it was carry work, not pull work.
I put a saddlebag on him, carrying acorns, water, and a hand trowel, and we planted about 64 (guesstimating) acorns in a paddock I had gridded out.

2. Today I used him in real draft (pulling) work.
One of my objectives is to get him to pull a cart / wagon / buggy. If his feet are well enough, I'd like him to prepare the seedbed in our garden, which would be light tillage work.
He's never learned any of this.
3. He's about 15, lived with me all his life. His parents lived here; I sold his mama to a friend and his daddy died of natural causes.

The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.

As a programmer, an inventor and an author, I have used and benefited from intellectual property protection all of my professional life. That is, I have used patents, copyrights, and trade secrets in my work. 1
Interestingly, up until the early 1990s, software was not patentable in the USA. As a software inventor, this bothered me. It seemed clear that there were some things in software that should be protectable. 2
I didn’t think algorithms as a class should be patentable, but specific applications of algorithms that accomplished a focused goal, very much like the existing standard for mechanical patents, should be. 3
