I love how everything internally at github is a repo...

Want access to a thing? PR the repo for access.
Want to plan an event at HQ? Go to the events repo.

I understand this world.
They’ve replaced turtles with repos. It’s repos all the way down.
I’ve worked at a lot of different companies and this is the one that most closely aligns with the weird world I created for my infrastructure etc.
I know this it’s a Unix system. But with repos.

Strong agree. Everyone wants actual isolation, but tbh I’m not sure k8s is the best abstraction for the job. It’s so complex and leaves so much room for error. One config gone wrong or one missed patch and it’s game over for your cluster.
You’d need to hire a perfectionist to set up your cluster perfectly and then maintain it for eternity and at that point might as well just build your own orchestrator you trust. And have a team continually pass it down.
It’s a trade-off invest in one of the few people in the world who can actually create a secure cluster or hire folks who can schedule VMs on different nodes. It’s not rocket science, just code.

If you haven't seen it "The Power of Introvert" TED talk is great, Susan Cain talks about how she forced herself to be a extrovert to blend/prove she could, but then goes into how introverts bring extraordinary talents & abilities to the world ted.com/talks/susan_ca…
It talks about how Introverts are often great leaders and managers because they let the people below them shine and are not afraid of that versus extroverts might get so excited by something they overlook other ideas.

It seems like a lot of people are confused with the difference between container runtimes and firecracker. Firecracker is a virtual machine manager. Qemu is also a virtual machine manager. Katacontainers uses Qemu. I’d love to see them switch to Firecracker. :)
Qemu has a shit ton of legacy code in drivers and bios and bullshit. Firecracker is clean af.
With all the bullshit comes a large attack surface. With minimal implementations comes fewer headaches, fewer slow broken drivers for floppy disks or keyboards (who the fuck needs those).

Everything about this day was my relationship with my son in a nutshell.

A trip to a water park that has become a day-long series of traditions.

Starts with a long drive, radio barely on, talking about everything and nothing.

Then bfast at the same place as always because they serve it in a skillet.

Then, the water park hitting every slide in the place until our legs ache and feet hurt...

...and then we do one more ride anyway. It’s always on a double-tube.

We always do the last one together.

I've seen this argument a few times, about the dangers of the establishment failing to accept the legitimacy of the Brexit vote. It often goes on to suggest civil service negotiators are betraying Brexit. Does this fomer (and often critical) civil servant see any truth in it? 1/
There is a common perception that the (vast) majority of civil servants were avid remainers. Of those I know I'd be fairly sure it was a majority. But there are also plenty who would have been leavers. And plenty who see a good career opportunity either way. 2/
What about the negotiators? There are plenty of tweets suggesting Ollie Robbins is some kind of Rasputin figure encouraging the PM in her remainer tendencies. If so, why has the PM stuck with some pretty hard red lines - which make any deal difficult? 3/
