Who could’ve ever predicted Trump would ignorantly careen from one self-made crisis to the next? The Republican Party owns this unmitigated disaster and they’d better start finally trying to fix it, and fast.
IMO, it'll take a lot of dumb luck for Trump—and major misfortune for the country—for him to last even another year. He should fly off to Mar-a-Lago as planned, and tweet his resignation en route.* Time to face the music already.

Grim talk aside, I'm optimistic for 2019. I see our system mostly proving resilient—DOJ, courts, the press. Painfully slow, but no quick fix exists. The exception, of course, is the fully GOP-controlled Congress. But Trump is about to lose that protection racket. cc @djrothkopf
