This is an opportune moment for TV execs to show some spine. Trump is gonna keep calling them all partisan and 'fake news' no matter what they do on this! So they should reject his request unless he agrees, verifiably, to not lie
Moreover, if the TV networks let Trump interrupt prime time to tell the American public that there is a 'national emergency' on the US-Mexico border, then the TV networks will be complicit in hyping a phony national emergency
Not sure whether to laugh or cry over comments that TV networks declining to let Trump lie in prime time would be "censorship" of the president. As @ThePlumLineGS notes, it's a near-certainty he'll just spout further disinfo on immigration and the border washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/…
Hey here's a solution: Trump should give his prime time speech on his own "real news" network based in Trump Tower (remember that?) — and then other TV networks can report any newsworthy facts, should they exist, from his Really Important Emergency Speech variety.com/2017/biz/news/…
