Perhaps South Africa still has some...issues with race and this ad is using humor to poke directly at those, uh, issues and some people with, uh, issues don’t like that.

I just learned that writer Emeka Walter Dinjos passed on December 12th from diabetes complications. He was the 1st Nigerian winner of the Writers of the Future Contest and he was only 34 years old. I'm heartbroken and stunned. 😢🇳🇬🖋️

Back when Who Fears Death came out, African scholars criticized me for portraying female general mutilation in a room with lights and technology. Just read an article complaining about my unique portrayal of Himba people in Binti.

Both of these books are set in the FAR FUTURE.
Yes, Africa has futures and yes I’m free to explore them.
Also, culture is alive, not petrified. It grows, shrinks, molts, sheds, and once in a while even dies.

My date followed up by asking, “If your boyfriend asked you to cook for him, would you?” I grinned, as I realised my date was sadly playing from a script. I replied, “I don’t have a guy I like who’s asking me to cook, so I can’t say.”
I think my date thought I was being coy. But, I wasn’t. I was just being honest. A while ago, I decided to deal in reality and not hypotheticals. I have tried and failed to control life. All my effort got me was an anxiety problem and therapy.

Trump never moved to the center. After his “Mexico . . they’re rapists” speech—he shocked everyone (even more) by doubling down.
