A keen follower was asking how I kept winning battles without lifting a finger. I said to her what I have already said publicly that if I can explain it then it would mean it is not divine. But what I didn’t share was the role of Tawakkul (Complete trust in the Almighty God).
Good Arabic scholars at this point would tell you that they too have trust in God and yet crumble before their own enemies or get defeated when the enemies lay siege. But there is a difference between Tawakkul (complete trust in God while playing your role & fulfiling conditions)
...and Tawakul (a sense of entitlement kind of trust in God to do for us what He has equipped us to do for ourselves). If you need to get ahead in life you must find purpose through work but going to Church & praying alone is Faith without works which is dead -Tawakul.
Life sometimes can be deemed a dark tunnel. People live in perpetual fear of the unknown and uncertainties. Thus the need for anchors and dependency on religion or group beliefs which most often fails them. But one with God is with majority once you can trust your guts.
The term “trust your gut” is a simple way of saying find synchronicity. Tame the Ego and let the small still voice teach you how to navigate life’s turbulent ocean. God lives in you and only you can grant Him the driver’s seat even when things look impossible (especially when).
There was this story I was told by my grand father about a man named Qadil Maristan who was roaming the streets of Mecca. Famished and uncertain about where he could find food. After a long walk without success, he found lying on the pavement a firmly tied pouch.
He took it home and untied it to find the most beautiful necklace of pearls he has ever seen. He thought to himself that his Tawakkul must have paid off with such transformation from a hungry man roaming the streets of Mecca to a millionaire. Yet he remained in character.
He went back to the streets and heard an old man yelling “I lost a necklace and I have 500Dinar reward for whoever brings me back the necklace.” Qadil was torn and devastated. He was plunged in moral dilemma. Should he give up his new stance and keep his Tawakkul or ignore?
The strength of his Tawakkul prevailed. He approached the old man and inquire more about the necklace as the man described the pouch, strings and the necklace to the letter. “You may have to come with me to my house” he beckoned. I may have found your pouch.
The old man knew the number of pearls on the strings of the necklace so there is no mistake here. So Qadil handed over the pouch and the old man insisted on rewarding him with 500Dinar. He was about taking it before he felt unworthy and refused despite the insistence of the man.
Qadil felt he didn’t do anything to deserve the money as he chose to keep his Tawakkul. Many moons later he left Mecca by ship, but there was a storm that wrecked the Ship. Many valuables and lives were lost, he was only saved by a raft that drifted by & was blown to an island.
Upon getting to shore, he headed for a thatched building that looked like a Masjid (Mosque) finding that there’s no one there, he started reciting the Quran. While he was meditating he realized that people started gathering around him being a stranger. “Could you teach us Quran?”
They inquired of him. He agreed. Then they started bringing him gifts overwhelmingly. While reading a few pages of the Quran days after, they said, “You even know how to read and write. Will you teach us & our children?” This was how he became a light to their path on the Island.
They didn’t stop showering him with gifts while they loathe the day he will say goodbye to their Island. One day, after many moons, the Islanders told him they had a problem. There’s this orphan girl, who they would love him to marry just to keep him on the Island.
They had wanted to give him a sense of purpose and attachment to the town so he would never think of leaving them. He resisted and told of how he wasn’t even thinking of marriage. But they insisted and he acquiesced. He was even yet to know who the girl was.
On the night of the wedding, when they presented her to him, he looked at her and was startled and astonished. He couldn’t take his eyes off her neck. The necklace caught his eyes and he could swear he’s seen them once before. But this wasn’t read well on the Island by tradition.
“The girl is one of the most beautiful women on that Island yet you couldn’t look into her eyes?” They gasped. “You have broken the Orphan’s heart they exclaimed.” “What could you have seen that took your eyes off her face?” They inquire.
It’s like you were saying she is ugly by your look. This was when Qadil broke down and shared story and how he got to the Island.

The Islanders roared in awe:
La Ilaha Il Allah, Allah Allahu Akber
La Ilaha Il Allah, Allah Allahu Akber

As more people began to gather.
Qadil was flummoxed (confused), he asked why they were doing this. He wanted to know why they were astonished by his account of his travail. They then told him that the old man who he returned the necklace to was the father of the Orphaned girl...
...they recall hearing him say he has never met a Muslim (Believer) on the face of the earth like the man who returned his precious necklace to him in Mecca. He even made Duaa (prayer and supplication) that God unite the man in question with his daughter as husband!
Today, Allah has answered his Duaa. Qadil thought to himself again that Tawakkul (absolute Trust in God) has proven its worth again in a divine form as a source of ease and happiness in both difficulty and serendipitous moments. But this is not the end of the story...
One of the most constant things in life is the vicissitude which can not be avoided. Nothing remains the same just like the seasons, seed time and harvest time. Qadil & the damsel lived happily ever after and we’re blessed with two children. But he lost his wife. 😞
Before her demise she asked that the children inherit the necklace. But a few moons after the two children also died. But despite his sorrows and bereavement he never lost his Tawakkul. He sold the necklace at a price beyond his imagination and became extremely wealthy.
He never departed from teaching the Quran and keeping his faith in the Almighty. Whoever fears God and keeps his duty to God will always find a way out from every difficulty. He will always provide for you from sources you never perceived. (Quran 65:2-3)
When God use you to ease the pain of his people, you must never begin to deify yourself not act with entitlement like you deserve to be praised for the miraculous. Give honor to whom it is due and keep your Tawakkul. Don’t help yourself by turning to shortcuts. Trust Him.
Now you will understand me better when I refuse your gifts or turn down your appointments. My trust is completely in Him the Giver of Life. When He elevates He protects at the new level but if I elevate myself I will have to protect myself & the darts are innumerable at the top.
...End of Celestial Observation...
Don’t worry if people can’t explain the Grace of the Almighty upon your life. They will deem you a fraud. Jesus Christ was called worse & was even crucified. Be of good cheer and watch the agents of the Devil fail over and over again. They will always fall on their own swords.⛱
