It is easy to get carried away by anger when considering the offenses of our president. To the extent we can channel the anger constructively, fine. But let's not lose sight of our two most critical needs:
--Stoppiing Trump from doing more damage
--Removing Trump from office
If what you do or say doesn't advance these things, refocus. Tomorrow is a big day. The American people unceremoniously through out Trump's defenders and enablers in the House and said it was their will that he be checked, overseen and stopped from further damage. Help them.
And as Democratic candidates who can defeat Trump come to the fore, support them. Provided they can win. Provided they understand that job one is Democratic unity, that right now we need a coherent, disciplined, focused Democratic Party more than ever.

Joe Biden is the most establishment, business as usual candidate the Dems could run and thus most vulnerable to the Trump message. He has also historically been a weak candidate.
He is a good man and has given much to the American people. He should be honored. He should help the Democrats win. He has a vital role to play.
But that is not as candidate. There are a dozen compelling talented candidates who could beat Trump or whomever the Republicans run.

I keep seeing representatives of the right (and sometimes of the far left) defending Trump and I wonder, have they no decency? How many incidents of racism, misogyny, lying, corruption, service to foreign enemies, or incompetence does it take for them to stand down?
Yet they do not. They defend the wall although it is not needed, the crisis is fabricated, it is founded in racism and vanity, it is linked to concentration camps and children in cages and unnecessary deaths on the southern border. They defend Trump's claims of no collusion...
...even though evidence of collusion includes the president himself asking for the assistance of the Russians, embracing Russian law-breaking to support his own campaign, defenses of the Russians, giving national secrets to the Russians, obsequious service to Vladimir Putin,...

I can think of few instances when a political leader has been so pitch perfect in tone and substance than @NancyPelosi over the last few months. That is good, as she ascends for a second time to the Speakership, she is the most important person in America right now.
Her career is a remarkable story of achievement--by far the greatest success story of an American woman in our political history. She is surrounded by a great team that is going to change the nature of how our government works almost instantly.
That does not guarantee success on all fronts..or even many fronts. But we have been without oversight of the president for two years as he has presided over the wholesale corruption of his office, of service to our enemies and of compiling and compounding threats to the country.

1. MAJOR point here and this is the core of the story. Cohen has CLEARLY flipped, and the Trump gang has found out, so the HIT JOB is out to call him a liar bc that is ALL they can do. Except... Cohen kept lying ON TRUMP'S BEHALF as @RepSwalwell aptly noted.
@RepSwalwell 2. As Rep Swalwell noted, court rooms are full of people who lied repeatedly and then decide to come clean, and they are believed and they send people to jail bc their story is corroborated. Giuliani and Trump KNOW that, so the hit job is on.

@RepSwalwell 3. Cohen said WEEKS AGO that a hit job was coming from the Trump clan, and he knew then bc HE KNEW he was going to flip and inevitably they were going to find out. Stephanopoulos asked him re: Trump knowing about the meeting and he said on advice of counsel, no comment.

Okay, so, the new White Wolf (nuWW) thing.

Settle in, this is a long one.
The article I linked to a few days back, which accused nuWW of marketing/pandering to neo-Nazis, has been taken down in the face of legal threats.
I think that's pretty shitty, but I also acknowledge that that article had some issues. It was clearly written from a place of righteous anger, and having written in that state before, I know that it's easy to get carried away.

i’ve been thinking a lot how important it is to protect your creative energy from being harmed by people who don’t quite understand what it means to be a writer, and i have a few thoughts:
1) there’s the well-meaning but ultimately frustrating banter loved ones will engage in with writers about the practical (read: financial) barriers to writing professionally, and that’s it’s own demon.
2) then there’s something i don’t see many people acknowledge often enough, and that’s the one-size-fits-all writing advice demon, which can be particularly harmful coming from people perceived to be successful/professionally knowledgable.

Two days later, everyone is sick of the @michelleisawolf #WHCD takes. So I thought I'd drive right into the abyss, go long, and look at how the routine is structured. I've been a fan for a long time; that will be obvious. This will take 3 days.
I want to highlight 3 things: voice, pacing, contempt. Even this insanely long thread doesn't get at everything going on in the routine—the eye work is great—but if this was the last #WHCD, the even deserves an epic sendoff, S/Z style.
1. The first remark draws attention to the room, and immediately conveys her sense that the event is BAD. It's in what I'll call normal voice—the voice she uses to seemingly step out of the performance. That voice speaks in monosyllables and simple syntax.
