THREAD: Seaborne Freight won a £13.8m government contract for extra ferry services in the event of no-deal Brexit. But #c4news can reveal that no contracts have yet been signed with either Ramsgate or Ostend Port.
Seaborne's chief executive, Ben Sharp, was formerly a director at another shipping firm called Mercator, which provided armed escort vessels.
Mercator shut down in 2013. But one company told us it still owed them $290k. A second company said it lost over $1m. Mr Sharp denies the allegations.
