So what is the deal with Alfa Bank?

Let's break it down.

With dates and sources, as is tradition.
To understand the true scope of the Alfa Bank story, we will also have to incorporate Daniel Jones into the mix.
On January 11, 2016, Christopher Steele met Adam Waldman, where they discussed Oleg Deripaska's attempts to gain a visa for business at the end of February 2016.

On February 21, 2016, Steele e-mailed Bruce Ohr and informed him that he had spoken with Waldman and Paul Hauser, and that there would be an inter-agency meeting held by the United States Government about Oleg Deripaska's future visit to America.

... which then fell to the ears of Glenn Simpson, who was briefed on the DNC hack before it became public knowledge and before he met Steele in June. So place it between April 29, 2016 to June 6, 2016ish.

In May 2016, the Washington Free Beacon informed Fusion GPS to stop doing research into Donald Trump, as Trump was on the verge of gaining the Republican Party nomination.

Before June 14, 2016, Michael Sussmann, CrowdStrike and the Democratic National Committee crafted a story to damage control the DNC hack.

More specifically, it was Dmitri Alperovitch and Shawn Henry of CrowdStrike whom directly contracted and briefed the reporter, Ellen Nakashima, about the DNC hacks, after the story had been crafted internally.

esquire.com/news-politics/…
On June 14, 2016, Ellen Nakashima published the article "Russian government hackers penetrated DNC, stole opposition research on Trump" in The Washington Post.

After June 14, 2016, a number of bipartisan computer scientists (which contained "John McCain Republicans") started to search for Russian infiltrators. These scientists were scattered across America. They started to search the Domain Name System.

newyorker.com/magazine/2018/…
In late July 2016, "Tea Leaves" at the bipartisan computer scientist organisation discovered potential malware moving from the Alfa Bank server to the Trump Organization server. "Tea Leaves" then circulated the information among his colleagues.

slate.com/articles/news_…
In August 2016, a member of the bipartisan computer scientist organisation met with and informed Eric Lichtblau of The New York Times about their discovery of the communications between the Alfa Bank and Trump Organization servers.

newyorker.com/magazine/2018/…
What has not been reported on, although he has mentioned it, is that Glenn Simpson was also receiving these reports about the Alfa Bank server, although he said it was beyond his expertise.

judiciary.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/…
With Simpson receiving data about the Alfa Bank server, note this:

"Steele offered Ohr many other theories over their contacts, including a now widely discredited one that the Russian Alfa Bank had a computer server 'as a link' to the Trump campaign".

thehill.com/hilltv/rising/…
It was on August 11, 2016 that Director John Brennan started to personally brief - in consultation with the White House (the Secret Situation Room team) - the various members of the Gang of Eight on Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election.

During the course of Brennan's classified briefings, they were partly dedicated to potential financial ties between the Russians and Trump associates. The briefings also focused on a computer back channel between the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank.

nytimes.com/2016/11/01/us/…
In September 2016, "Tea Leaves" and the five computer scientist colleagues started to work together to try and gain public attention on the connection between the Alfa Bank and Trump Organization servers.

slate.com/articles/news_…
Also in September 2016, Eric Lichtblau wrote a draft article about the Alfa Bank-Trump Organization server connection, while the lawyer of an employee at the bipartisan computer scientist organisation warned the FBI about the coming article.

slate.com/articles/news_…
On September 21, 2016, Eric Lichtblau met with Jeffrey Birnbaum of Alfa Bank in Washington, DC, where Birnbaum denied any connection between Alfa Bank and Donald Trump.

slate.com/articles/news_…
On September 23, 2016, the Alfa Bank server ceased their contact with the Trump Organization server.

edition.cnn.com/2017/03/09/pol…
One week after September 21, 2016, Eric Lichtblau contacted the Trump campaign.

slate.com/articles/news_…
On September 27, 2016, the Trump Organization created a new host name, trump1[dot]contact-client[dot]com.

slate.com/articles/news_…
In late September 2016, Eric Lichtblau met with officials at the FBI's Headquarters to discuss Russian interference in the 2016 election, and their intelligence acquired about Alfa Bank-Trump Organization. The FBI requested he delay his article.

newyorker.com/magazine/2018/…
In fact, the Alfa Bank-Trump Organization server was one of the main investigative leads by the journalists at The New York Times in late September. The effort was led by Eric Lichtblau and Steven Lee Myers.

nytimes.com/2017/01/20/pub…
In early October 2016, the Federal Bureau of Investigation started to investigate the data connection between Alfa Bank and the Trump Organization.

nytimes.com/2017/04/22/us/…
Also in early October 2016, "Tea Leaves" and the five other computer scientists passed their findings about the Alfa Bank and Trump Organization servers to Paul Vixie.

slate.com/articles/news_…
Note that "Tea Leaves" is known as someone "very well-known in the networking community", according to L. Jean Camp.

On October 31, 2016, Eric Lichtblau and Steven Lee Myers published the article "Investigating Donald Trump, F.B.I. Sees No Clear Link to Russia" in The New YorK Times.

nytimes.com/2016/11/01/us/…
"[The FBI] even chased a lead - which they ultimately came to doubt - about a possible secret channel of email communication from the Trump Organization to a Russian bank."

There was no conclusive or direct link found.

nytimes.com/2016/11/01/us/…
On the same day, October 31, 2016, Franklin Foer published the article "Was a Trump Server Communicating With Russia?" in Slate.

slate.com/articles/news_…
As I have previously noted, Franklin Foer and Glenn Simpson both attended the Double Exposure: Investigative Film Festival and Symposium on October 7, 2016.

On the same day, October 31, 2016, Hillary Clinton tweeted: "It's time for Trump to answer serious questions about his ties to Russia." with a link to Franklin Foer's Alfa Bank Slate article.

This was soon followed by a statement from Jake Sullivan, tweeted through Hillary Clinton's account: "Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank."

At the same time, days before Election Day 2016, the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee ceased funding Fusion GPS's research. Fusion GPS then passed Steele's reports to Marc Elias.

washingtonpost.com/world/national…
In November 2016, before Election Day, agents at the Federal Bureau of Investigation visited the offices of Listrak in Lititz, PA as part of their investigation into the Alfa Bank-Trump Organization servers.

lancasteronline.com/news/local/fbi…
On November 7, 2016, Louise Mensch published the article "EXCLUSIVE: FBI 'Granted FISA Warrant' Covering Trump Camp's Ties To Russia" in Heat Street, which discussed a potential FISA on the Trump campaign due to their alleged links to SVB and Alfa Bank.

On December 5, 2016, Daniel Jones attended the discussion about "The Future of Foreign Policy" with John Cavanagh and Ted Wittenstein, moderated by Doug Foyle at Wesleyan University.

engageduniversity.blogs.wesleyan.edu/2016/11/01/rig…
After January 20, 2017, Senator Mark Warner and another Democrat Senator who had reviewed the information gathered by the bipartisan computer scientist organisation about the Trump Organization-Alfa Bank servers...
... passed the information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Central Intelligence Agency for further review. The Central Intelligence Agency then pushed the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate the information.

dailycaller.com/2018/04/27/don…
As noted in David Ignatius's article, "The GOP's Spin on the Russia probe doesn't add up" on September 25, 2018, Michael Vachon, the spokesman for George Soros, confirmed that they had made a grant to the Democracy Integrity Project.

washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-gop…
Before March 17, 2017, the Penn Quarter Group worked with Reuters to create the article "Russian elite invested nearly $100 million in Trump buildings".

dailycaller.com/2018/04/27/don…
On March 17, 2017, Nathan Layne, Ned Parker, Svetlana Reiter, Stephen Grey and Ryan McNeill published the article "Russian elite invested nearly $100 million in Trump buildings" in Reuters.

On March 17, 2017, Alfa Bank's Viet Dinh sent a letter to L. Jean Camp, warning her to keep all documents readily available in relation to her research into the Trump Organization-Alfa Bank server connection, and her correspondence with "Tea Leaves".

assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3522…
This was in response to an article a few days prior, March 15, 2017, "A Clinton supporter pushed the Trump-Russia computer narrative investigated by the FBI" in Circa, written by Sara Carter and John Solomon, which named L. Jean Camp.

circa.com/story/2017/03/…
Before March 20, 2017, the Penn Quarter Group worked with McClatchy to create the article "FBI's Russia-influence probe includes a look at Breitbart, InfoWars news sites".

dailycaller.com/2018/04/27/don…
On March 20, 2017, Peter Stone and Greg Gordon published the article "FBI's Russian-influence probe includes a look at Breitbart, InfoWars news sites" in McClatchy.

mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-…
On March 22, 2017, Jose Pagliery published the article "Russian bank sends threatening letter to computer scientist who called for Trump investigation" in CNN, which related to Alfa Bank's letter to L. Jean Camp on March 17, 2017.

edition.cnn.com/2017/03/22/pol…
On March 28, 2017, attorneys for L. Jean Camp - Mark Lemley and Marcia Hofmann - sent a response letter to Viet D. Dinh in response to his letter from March 17, 2017 about the Alfa Bank-Trump Organization server connection.

ljean.com/files/17_03_27…
On March 28, 2017, Daniel Jones met with the FBI, where he discussed Penn Quarter Group's role in exposing foreign influence in western elections, that Penn Quarter Group is funded by 7 to 10 wealthy donors in New York and California for approximately $50 million...
... and that the services of Christopher Steele, [REDACTED] and Fusion GPS had been secured to exposed Russian interference in the 2016 elections, with plans to provide information to policymakers on Capitol Hill, the mainstream media and the FBI.

intelligence.house.gov/uploadedfiles/…
Also note that on March 9, 2017, Pamela Brown and Jose Pagliery published the article "Sources: FBI investigation continues into 'odd' computer link between Russian bank and Trump Organization" in CNN.

edition.cnn.com/2017/03/09/pol…
Also note that the day after, March 10, 2017, Tim Mekeel published the article "FBI gets Lititz firm's help in probe of Russian bank's 'odd' interest in Trump Hotels marketing emails" in Lancaster Online, which was about the November FBI visit.

lancasteronline.com/news/local/fbi…
Around March 10, 2017, the second Democrat Senator approached Daniel Jones and asked him to look at the bipartisan computer scientist data.

newyorker.com/magazine/2018/…
Daniel Jones then assembled a team of computer scientists divided into two groups - one on each coast.

They also consulted L. Jean Camp.

The East Coast and the West Coast teams were kept separate.

newyorker.com/magazine/2018/…
So if this was happening around March 10, 2017, you can now go back to the part where Daniel Jones reaches out to Waldman on March 15, followed by his conversation with the FBI on March 28, knowing he was running two teams of computer scientists.

And as we know today, the Democracy Integrity Project worked with New Knowledge on the website "Disinfo 2018".

And New Knowledge was behind the influence campaign in Alabama's Special Senate race.

This chart should now make complete sense to you.
The end.
