The FBI counterintelligence investigation - reported on by the NYT - seems factually justifiable (Trump's behavior suggests he might well be a Russian agent) and constitutionally problematic (career feds substitute their judgment for the elected president's w/r/t nat'l security)
Constitutionally, it's a rock & a hard place: if unelected feds substitute their judgment on nat'l security for the president's judgment, it undermines democracy and political accountability - BUT if the pres is a Russian agent, that too undermines democ and polit accountability
Constitution doesn't offer a satisfying answer.
