Trouble with Mnangagwa’s presidency is deception & aversion to taking responsibility. On 1 August last year, he feigned ignorance as to the deployment of troops. No apology. Now, he drops a bombshell in the form of high fuel prices & promptly takes the gap & leaves the country!
He knew or ought to have known that the hike in fuel prices would trigger disgruntlement and reaction among citizens. If he was going to make the drastic decision he should have stayed to deal with the ensuing crisis, rather than run & leave the problem to someone else.
One wonders whether the General and his peers in the security apparatus see the game at play. Whatever wrongs are committed by the State in present circumstances will eventually land on their feet. The boss will simply say, I wasn’t there!
