NY TV debut 1/20/54 at 6:15 pm on WCBS' "Early Show.'' 1939 Paramount western is remake of its 1932 film of the same name which was retitled WHEN THE WEST WAS YOUNG on TV. Remake's tube title was HERITAGE OF THE WEST. Yep, that's Sidney Toler moonlighting from Chan series.
1/20/59 at 5:30 pm on WCBS' "The Early Show.'' Independently produced by former production chief DeSylva, 1945 Betty Hutton musical was confusingly not part of MCA's pre-1948 Paramount library, which will begin to roll out in five days on Channel 2. Copyright expired 1973.

1/20/69 at noon on WNEW. NY Times listings assert Channel 5 was showing Universal's obscure 1935 remake of LONESOME (1928). But it was almost certainly THE AFFAIRS OF SUSAN (1945) with Joan Fontaine, one of many pre-1948 Paramount titles that WNEW had under license.
1/20/74 at 11:30 pm on WPIX. Channel 11 now had all of A&C's Universals (except IT AIN'T HAY, which long had rights issues) but did not show them in chronological order. This was their fourth vehicle, released in 1941.
1/20/79 from 4:03 to 6:05 am on WCBS. LeRoy's 1945 comedy with unlikely romantic teaming was included in a package of mostly very late RKO co-productions leased by Channel 2. NY TV debut 11/23/62 on WOR's "The Big Preview,'' followed by a 1964 run on "Million Dollar Movie.''
1/20/2010 at 8 pm on TCM. Night 3 of "Shadows of Russia'' leads off with TCM debut of 1943 pro-Soviet war drama. Disowned by Goldwyn and sold, made NY TV debut 1/7/46 on WNBT, soon pulled for political reasons. Resurfaced years later, rehabilitated as anti-Soviet ARMORED ATTACK!
1/20/2010 at 10 pm on TCM. Curtiz' 1943 "Shadows of Russia'' inspiration/centerpiece was available for TV by 1959. But such was its pro-Stalin notoriety that it did not make NY TV debut until 11/21/77 as part of WNET's "Films of Persuasion'' series, hosted by Richard Schickel.
