So the business backers for Brexit are....

Tim Martin, whose European wine amounts to only 5% of his stock...

...because he couldn't get the right deal with Europe.
James Dyson, who is lucky enough to say that only 2-3% of his company's supply chain is in Europe.
And Anthony Bamford who manufactures in different counties to get around the freight and duty costs.
Just so we know.

As Holger Hestermeyer explains here, it is misleading to say that WTO law provides the rules for up to 98% of world trade.

Next claim: The UK is making good progress in replicating some of the UK’s most important preferential agreements.

As far as I know this isn’t entirely true, and the UK hasn’t had that much dialogue with Norway (6th biggest export destination).

2. Firstly, let’s look at the 2017 Impact hearing.

There was testimony to say that leaving the EU will disrupt the financial industry. That many US companies invest in the UK for the Single Market and may rethink their presence if this changes.
3. The capacity that the UK has to do all the things it needs to do will be stressed.

A messy divorce between the EU and the UK would disrupt US jobs, trade and investments while impairing our allies’ ability to meet the problems of the world.

Lots of people making the case for Europe, out of core principles and from the heart. I'll chime in. My father's father, Ludwig Steinberger, was Jew, Synagogue Cantor in Bad Kissingen Germany. He fought on the German side in WWI, in occupied France. He wasn't proud of it. 1/
When he saw the rise of the Nazis in 1933, he immediately decided to send his two eldest sons, Herbert and Jack, with the Kindertransport to the US. My father, Jack, was 13, Herbert was 14. I am alive thanks to his decision. Miraculously, the rest of the family escaped in '38. 2/
In the US, life was hard for a cantor and an English teacher (my grandmother's job). They made it, and all their sons made it through university. My father was a soldier on the US side in WWII (apparently a terrible one, not surprised, lol). He learned physics in the army. 3/

A constant refrain from my fellow remainers is name be a #Brexit benefit many devote immense energy writing detailed explanations of trade tarrifs or how the EU works. I am grateful to them as I have learned a lot from them yet we all wonder why it makes so little difference
It seems to me that a better question to leavers is what are you getting out of #Brexit why do you support it in the face of so much evidence that its a terrible idea and I would like to suggest the answer lies in the realms of feeling
We have all seen that #Brexit licenses all kinds of opinions that 1l0 years ago would have been unacceptable but more than that it licences BEHAVIOURS that usually are unacceptable and thus gives many adherents a immense pleasure

After blunt statement yesterday on hard border being outcome of a no deal #Brexit Commission spks @MargSchinas today underlines "EU is fully behind Ireland" and "EU is determined to do all it can, deal or no deal, to avoid the need for a border and to protect peace in NI" but 1
In its no deal planning document from December the Commission stated that checks on livestock and agri products would take place after a no deal #Brexit EU juggling protecting Good Friday Agreement with protecting its single market 2
One option on table is having checks in France/Netherlands so as to avoid having them on island of Ireland but this would have clear impact on Irish trade. This is a very delicate intra-EU debate. EU keen to show solidarity with member state Ireland 3

We hear that many more labour Mps may refuse to back a 2nd Ref than previously thought you may think this is a convenient obstacle but my friend in the Labour Party told me this months ago BUT against this there may be more tories who will back #PeoplesVote than expected

- all-UK in a temporary customs Union
- Northern Ireland only in Single Market for goods, via devolution
