I didn't think I needed to repost my handy dandy "Blackface" decision guide.

Should you... No.
The decision is always no.
Don't think about it.
Don't argue that it's not really that racist.
Don't talk about the Wayans brother's crappy movie.
Just NO!
"But, I really like black culture." - No

"But, I'm doing it in a respectful way." - No

"But, I met Snoop Dogg and he said it was cool." - No, and no he didn't. I asked.

"But I was re-enacting a minstrel show." - No Stop Don't. This is why Blackface is not ok in the first place
And while we're here. Also NEVER ok:

- making "Asian eyes"
- saying "ching-chong" to Asian people
- asking if Asian people can make you "flied lice"

(All of these things have happened to me while I've been an adult. Some while I've been elected as a state official.)
"But I'm into Manga/Anime/Hentai." - No

"But I can use chopsticks, watch." - No, just no. Why...

"But I'm really into Asian girls." - No. Get out.

"But I have Asian friends who laugh when I do it." - No. And they secretly want to punch you.
Let's just leave it at this.

Our nation has had a long painful history involving the oppression, repression, and subjugation of entire groups of people based on their "race."

Some of those painful histories are fresh in the minds of many communities.
For many minority communities, this oppression & repression is still going on.

Actions and words that may seem harmless to some, can be weapons used to demean and subjugate others.

Some things, like Blackface, will never lose their poisonous taint given our nation's history.
