Ex-Labour MP Jim Sheridan, suspended from the party over comments made about losing "respect and empathy" for the "Jewish community" for working with "blairite plotters", has been reinstated following a internal party antisemitism investigation.
Sheridan stated his "sincere apologies to the Jewish community", but said "I remain of the view that my accusers were misguided &overreacted to what was intended to highlight my personal frustration and criticism of those intent on undermining our leadership in Scotland & the UK"
A Labour Party spokesman said: "The Labour Party takes all complaints of anti-Semitism extremely seriously and we are committed to challenging and campaigning against it in all its forms."
I notice this has again been announced on a Friday night, while many religious Jews are observing the Sabbath and are unable to respond to the matter.

I disagree, people endorsing Gabbard are doing so almost exclusively for her pro-Putin, Pro-Assad position on Syria. They keep framing it as "anti-interventionist" and deliberately ignoring the fact that Gabbard openly endorsed Russia's bombing campaign
They are all willing to throw the LGBT community, Syrians, Iraqi and Syrian refugees, Egyptians, Indian Muslims and Palestinians under a bus to endorse Gabbard, just to defend her 'Hands Off Assad' foreign policy position. People need to recognise it for what it is.
"Yeah she's bad on X, Y & Z but at least she opposes intervention" is the rally cry. But it's a lie based on the fact that she supports any & all bombing in Syria, as long as its only opponents of the Assad regime being targeted, even when those targets are children's hospitals.

The most important thing @RachelRileyRR has done in my opinion is to finally break the mainstream silence on Noam Chomsky, a man who has never met a conspiracy theorist he hasn’t promoted the work of. The bile & outraged reactions from activists expose their ignorance of his work
Riley pointed out that he has defended antisemites, which he has, including ones literally suspended by Corbyn’s Labour for antisemitism. But this only scratches the surface of his record, which is riddled with support for racist genocide revisionism

I wrote that article in 2017, but it is not the first time someone has presented this evidence clearly, yet the public has never moved on from viewing him as a cuddly, kind, socialist old man who fights for social justice.

The thing is about Aaron Bastani is that he's a genius. He knows exactly what to say to piss people off. He knows he can be bigoted, offensive, borderline racist & misogynist & that nobody can touch him. He is in no danger of losing his job or his position of influence with LOTO
He has taken the far-right shock jock model, the kind of thing Katie Hopkins built a career off, and created a pseudo-left wing version of it. It has pushed Novara Media into the spotlight countless times, far more than any of the private school Oxbridge kids they have on there.
So he can praise Nazi command economics, dismiss claims of anti-semitism, endorse Assad supporters, share conspiracy theories and mock disabled veterans knowing that no matter how justifiably angry people get, it only gives him a bigger platform.

1) So I went to a different synagogue today and heard from one of the great #Jewish thinkers, leaders, scholars, good souls of our time, Rabbi Joseph Telushkin.

It is hard to overstate his influence but let's just say this was once in a lifetime.

2) Rabbi Telushkin was the scholar-in-residence at Congregation Beth Sholom in Potomac, Maryland. That means he gave multiple talks, Friday night, during services, after services, and again just before Havdalah (ritual ending the Sabbath).

I got to hear two of the talks.
3) Why should you care about this when there are more important things happening in the world?

I would argue that we spend a lot of time talking about the bad actors that have invaded our culture. We should talk about the good ones, more.

@billybragg I have read the Brian Klug article in full, along with the original IHRA code of conduct, and the new Labour NEC code of conduct.
The article tries to argue that the NEC document is an improvement, based on semantics such as whether “are likely” applies more forcefully than “might” in relation to some of the examples. It’s a tenuous argument, but the best he can muster based upon the source material.
This is really about two things. Firstly, Labour have taken key examples of modern antisemitism, the very ones which play out most frequently amongst sections of the left, and severely watered down their applicability. They are no longer prima facie considered to be antisemitic.
