Nearly 75% of civil servants polled ..said excessive working hours were a problem in their organisation and 82% said working extra hours had damaged their wellbeing.

The numbers recruited due to Brexit cited in this blog are eye watering. Morale is low, unsurprisingly.

They must look at what is being done in the name of Government with bemusement.

That said, it was foreseeable. Worker’s rights. Bang.

They are unable to employ staff fast enough.

Then there are the external contractors.

All to make our country worse off. More public spending, not less.

Summary of different polls on voting intention. Excluding the one that’s over a month old (in italics) most put the Tories and Labour neck and neck, maybe 1 % between them.
Kantar puts LP 3% ahead, but Opinium and YouGov put Conservatives ahead by 7% and 5% respectively.
However we should keep an eye on Pantheon Economics and the Consumer Confidence Index as that has been a reliable indicator of Government change. (Toombs called it right for both the GE 2015 and 2017).

Whennth CCI is -10 expect a change of Gov.

A GE seems a grossly irresponsible thing to hold and completely highlights the gross hypocrisy of both Cons and Labour FB who say people cannot change their minds on a ref that would, by then, be 3 years old, yet can have 3 general election in a 4 year period, that settle nothing

1/ We need to talk about Daniel Kawczynski MP (@DKShrewsbury) & Gold Speculation.

His comments & seemingly "pointless" lies about #brexit has provoked confusion among leavers & remainers alike.

But once you find out who's he really working for, his actions make perfect sense...
2/ Kawczynski has until recently been a pretty mainstream Tory MP, even liberal on some issues given his personal background.

Yet since the referendum has not just been hard #Brexit supporter - his views have increasingly been seen as slightly beyond the pale even for brexit...
3/ One thing that has changed is Kawczynski's growing relationship with Banks & Mogg and his curious relationship with American billionaire Thomas Kaplan.....

From that time on circa 2015 Kawczynski public pronouncements began to change....

Gold is trading quietly today at 1290/oz. The RSI, at 63, is in positive but not overbought territory and my colleague, Jaspar Crawley, points out that the spot #gold price has made a golden cross, with the 50-day crossing the 200-day (and with positive spot momentum).

Gold: Jaspar suggests that this may trigger some momentum buying in #gold but I wonder whether the active Comex future (Feb) is more important and the golden cross in this is still some way away.

Gold: I hardly ever mention the B word (Brexit, not bullion or bars) because I don’t think it matters for the global #gold market and yesterday’s lack of reaction is a partial justification for this stance.

So, it’s been a hellish week. The family business was started by my grandad after the war. Most employees have been with us for a long time.

I did not want to run it, was happy enough in the City, but when my uncle retired someone had to.

We did OK for 9 years
but when Brexit hit, the orders from EU withered. I spent most of my year in Near and Far East Asia trying to find new customers. The costs of distribution, compliance & corrruption are very high, & you cannot trust that a Chinese or Indian customer will actually honour a
contract. My high price law firm said of China “It’s only when you sign a contract in China that the negotiation begins”. Multinationals have the muscle & product clout to prevail in these markets. For SMEs they are a death sentence. I shipped £140k of product to Shenzhen in

Gold: The COTR for #gold was released Friday, as usual, but I was away from the office yesterday and didn't get a chance to update spreadsheets: I need not have worried as its almost unchanged.

Managed Money remains net short gold, reduced by 0.75moz to 7.1 moz

Gold: Gross #gold longs were down 0.16moz to 10.4moz, continuing to bounce roughly around the base level seen over the past six or seven years
