The Malthouse Compromise Brexit plan is like someone trying to build a full-size house out of rancid mashed potato and congealed gravy. The ingredients are compromised, wholly unsuited to the task, and have no chance of forming a coherent whole when united.
Those doing the building have never seen a house before, don't understand even the basics of structural physics, are blind drunk, and have their hands tied behind their backs. But apart from that...

Liam Fox is considering using executive powers to drop all UK import tariffs to 0% in an emergency after a no deal Brexit. And if your immediate reaction is "Won't that destroy all domestic manufacturing?" you'd be dead right. He could limbo under a snake.

Scary thing is, if this were *just* a Brexiter's fever dream, that would be one thing. But apparently the Government are actively considering it as an option. Aside from the death of British manufacturing, try doing a trade deal that improves on 0%! Economy. Will. Die.

A ton of aspects of driving in the EU will change if there's a no deal Brexit
- need international driving permit
- have to swap your UK license for an EU one before 29 March if you're living in the EU, or face taking your driving test again
gov.uk/guidance/prepa…
- need a GB sticker on your vehicle if your numberplate is a Euro-plate (EU flag + GB sign) unless you replace it with a GB-only numberplate
- need a green card to prove you have motor insurance (may also need separate proof for your trailer)
- can no longer make claims via a UK-based claims representative or MIB after an accident
- must register commercial trailers over 750kg and non-commercial trailers over 3,500kg

Chris Grayling has explicitly blamed the EU for Brexit this morning: "We want to work with the EU to reach a deal but if they are not prepared to do that – they will have to take responsibility that we are heading towards a no-deal exit."
Repeat after me... The UK chose to Brexit. Brexit is not something being imposed on us by the EU. They wanted us to stay. They still want us to stay. They would happily see us stay. Every single consequence of leaving is on us, and only on us.
Brexit is not the fault of the EU. Neither is it the fault of Remainers, businesses, or other convenient scapegoats. Responsibility for Brexit is mainly shouldered by the Tories, first amongst them Theresa May. Labour's super weak opposition means they shouldn't get a free pass.

The Malthouse Compromise involves 2 Plans.
Plan A: limit transition to Dec 2021 & then go to ‘A Better Deal’.
Plan B: have a quasi transition period & prepare for WTO rules kicking in on 1 Jan 2021.
The choice is clear for the EU, right?

Theresa May's machiavelic plans have to stop.

If she really believes her negotiations are that Strong and Stable, she should stop this embarrassing political circus and openly go for her No-Deal #Brexit plan, instead of sneakily engineering it.

When she decided to put forward her support to #BradyAmendment, she knew it would be rejected by the EU negotiators.
It was even said yesterday before she decided to support it.
But it is a sneaky way to put forward a No-Deal #Brexit and later putting the blame on the EU. 2/10
The #Backstop was negotiated BY the UK to comply with UK's red lines:
✔ No hard border (#GoodFridayAgreement)
❌ No customs unions
❌ No single market
❌ No freedom of movement
The EU wanted a soft #Brexit. So no Backstop. 3/10

Before he teamed up w/Vote Leave Darren Grimes had raised the princely sum of £21.51 - then he got £675k. Grimes told us this was his spending. EC found this 'was substantially inaccurate reporting that has resulted in a lack of transparency about whose spending this was.'

1/11 It now seems there are only two ways to interpret May’s #Brexit strategy.

The first is the Optimistic assumption that she still thinks (logically if not emotionally) ‘Remain’ was the only rational choice when Leave offered no coherent choice.

3/11 If so, we can take at face value her apparent aim to manoeuvre towards the softest #Brexit possible.

She will deliver a ‘political’ Brexit but not an ‘economic’ one.

1. At this point Theresa May needs to ignore her #Brexit back benchers. They are not being honest. They will ambush her whatever she does because they will only accept a no deal Brexit at this point. There isn't a mandate for that.
2. The UK needs a solution that addresses the NI issue along with one that protects UK business and that was always going to require a degree of harmonisation. That is the way the world works. Pretending it can be done by other means is dishonest to the core.
3. If Brexiters wanted a different outcome then they should have set out a plan - but they refused to do so - so they can't complain about the destination. Instead they've spent the last two years lying through their teeth, massaging the narrative that we can trade on WTO rules.

1/ A small thread on why BOTH many Remainers & Leavers still havent "got" that #Brexit has already failed...
....even if it goes ahead.
& why its often "media noise" rather than "actual lies" is obscuring this & the fact that Brexit wont happen as we thought it would 2 years ago.
2/ Basic Leave idea pre #Brexit vote was that a prosperous UK with large trade deficit eager to retain many European standards wld not really offer a threat to EU was not completely implausible as many remainers assumed.
But it depended on....
3/ Basic #Brexit idea was to convince EU that with a bit of compromise & British payments UK cld leave single mkt but retain full access to it while it worked out its future. Indeed many sensible Leavers didnt want radical change overnight..however there was one small problem....
