If only the East Coast had several hundred desolate cities that weren't annihilated by free trade and unlimited immigration.
Here's Troy - lovely place that used to have a professional baseball team; located on on major railways and the Hudson. Now, two colleges and a bunch of heroin. 
Here's Schenectady - once the home of GE's entire corporate offices, which were so big they had their own zip code (12345... true story). Now they can't manage flooding.
Here's Auburn. Which once had a thriving steel and rail industry and now has a prison you can work in maybe.
Here's Albany - in which the current middle school has around a 0% passing rate in reading. In a surprising twist, nearly all of those kids aren't from the US. Most of the city's legislators don't live in the city and all are Democrats. Funny that.
Here's Mechanicville, NY - It's one square mile, which packed in one of the world's first hydroelectric plants, a thriving paper industry, and the 3rd largest rail-yard in the country. It now has a failing school district and a McDonald's.
Here's Ft. Edward, NY. It used to have a GE. Then the EPA made them spend tens of millions of dollars to clean up a river they polluted when it was legal to do so. So they closed the GE and now there's barely a town.
Here's Buffalo, NY. Nice town. Great airport. Even one of those light rails I've heard so much about. Then New York forgot it existed. Now it has one of the worst city school districts in the state and only about 30% of kids are native English speakers. The rest speak Arabic.
America has been an entire century of driving people out of cities and then being mad at them for leaving. You're like a kid who broke a toy and then are mad at dad for not being able to glue it back together.
They destroyed the northeast and are insistent on destroying the rest of it. Because they are Borg.
What was taken from us is infuriating. We should live every day with seething hatred for those who did it. When Europeans retreat and leave this behind, the people reclaiming it will gaze on what they did in wonder until it stops working and nobody is left to fix it.
