The UK Parliament's @CommonsCMS under @DamianCollins released its final report on disinformation. A few of their many recs:

-don't play whack-a-troll (and make groups more transparent)
-be more transparent about foreign disinfo
-find out "what actually happened"
Also absolutely agree with this recommendation about a need for a unified, cross-government digital literacy strategy that includes an understanding of data privacy. Too often it is conceived of outside of a certain department's domain. In reality it's everyone's domain.

what it is and why it's important!
A reverse image search lets you take any image and find out if an image is original, and if not, when and where the first instances of it on the Internet were.

I used it to uncover inauthentic accounts for my @BuzzFeedNews investigation in the fall: buzzfeednews.com/article/ninaja…
It can be useful when trying to determine if an image has been faked, or as is increasingly common these days, repurposed (often happens with natural disasters, wars, events threatening public safety).

Some thoughts below:
Some thoughts:

1. The real damage from groups like the IRA happens not on E-day, but months and sometimes years before. Recall that some of the 2016 operators had been running for more than a year before the election. FB just took down inauthentic accts *from 2013* in E Europe.
2. This, from Sen. Rounds, is misleading. Unless he’s alluding to another CyberCom operation, the IRA doesn’t have the ability to conduct “cyber incursions.” They deal in social media, not hacking.

#Breaking - Some defense sources report #Indian air strikes across the Line of Control in Muzafarabad, #Pakistan. Indian air force briefing expected later today. Pakistan said Indian jets dropped their payloads & "fled". More confirmation of details needed.

These pundits though.

Complaining that Clinton and her supporters seem unable "to get over it."

As if all we lost was a baseball game or something.

And not a one of them has a reasonable response when you lay it all out:
- The Benghazi Committee which existed for the sole purpose of trying to keep Hillary Clinton from considering a run for the Democratic nomination.

Period.

In early 2014 Clinton killing every possible Republican candidate in the polls.
She had been extremely popular and successful Secretary of State--by most Republicans own admission.

They knew what their chances we're absent a scandal to throw over her head. Trey Gowdy and Jason Chaffetz led the Republicans on a 30 month innuendo filled disaster.
