Incidentally, tech companies? You're in a position to nab extraordinarily talented people with all these game company layoffs--people with both tech skills and agility and vision go into games for love, and are forged in a bloody crucible.
I've worked with super-smart non-game tech people, and a lot of them have been amazing, but most of them haven't been forced to be amazing in the same way game industry workers have. (Yes, this is a generalization, I am aware.)
And most game devs don't WANT to go into non-game tech. They love the creative aspects of games and are willing to suffer to keep that. BUT.
I know a lot of game devs who are tired. And if you offer them a place where they will be treated with more respect, won't have to kill themselves meeting unreasonable deadlines, and have opportunities to apply their well-toned creative muscles in new ways...
...this might be a situation in which everyone ultimately benefits, as much as workers can in this late capitalist hellscape. Give them a job where everything isn't an absurdly brutal struggle just to make a thing, and benefit from an influx of fine-honed skills and creativity.
BUT. That's going to require you to get creative about how you define roles and what you look for in candidates.
