Reporting that Giuliani and Trump’s lawyers are preparing a response to Mueller’s report, ensures that the investigation into the attack on our 2016 election will become a public relations battle. This is why we need public hearings. /1
As Jill Wine-Banks and Liz Holtzman have said, it’s not just about reading a report. The public should see the witnesses under oath, see their body language, hear from them in their own words. /2
The public should be allowed to evaluate the veracity of witnesses based on their actual, full testimony not just a summary of their words or, worse, spin from media panels. /3
Any response by Trump’s lawyers is not submitted under oath. It is not subject to penalties of perjury. /4
If the US had been attacked by missiles or....planes...would we have settled for answers via pundits and panelists? No. This was a serious attack on our nation’s sovereignty. It’s being treated as just another story to spin.
