The media coverage of the Green New Deal is baffling given that 100% of what it actually does is "resolve" that "it is the sense of the House of Representatives" that the government must create something called a Green New Deal, and that it should solve all of America's problems
Not exaggerating. GND is a letter to Santa in resolution form. 100% renewable energy, major upgrades to every single US building, a high-wage job guarantee for every citizen, universal healthcare, universal retirement security, universal higher ed, universal affordable housing...
Entire political campaigns have been run on the basis of fewer commitments with more realistic prognoses. If you put "genetically engineer actual unicorns" in there, it would be one of the better specified & more achievable objectives
Most of these goals are laudable — but as a package, completely infeasible. They're not even clearly articulated. There's no policy or proposal here. The only justifiable headline would be something like "Freshman Rep Demands Promise We'll Fix Literally Everything, Somehow"
This is stupid virtue signaling & in a sane world it would be all but a guarantee of a one-term tenure in federal government. You've already been elected; build your personal brand on your own time

But nope
