Lawyers for Paul Manafort told a judge in D.C. today that any significant prison term "will likely amount to a life sentence."
Manafort's lawyers say that were it not for Mueller's appointment as special counsel, DOJ would have viewed his crimes as fairly minor. Also, "there is no evidence of Russian collusion."
Manafort's sentencing memo makes repeated references to the fact that he hasn't been charged for "collusion," and suggests that prosecutors only brought these charges as a way to pressure him to cooperate against the president.
