@Marcelcrok TEDx talk online. Marcel's article in Natuurwetenschap uoguelph.ca/~rmckitri/rese… was, together with Antonio Regalado's WSJ article climateaudit.info/pdf/news/wsj.2… and Richard Muller article technologyreview.com/s/403256/globa…, first coverage of our 2005 research.
2/ Marcel's article published following acceptance of our 2005 GRL article
climateaudit.info/pdf/2004GL0217… and E&E article
climateaudit.info/pdf/mcintyre.e… . I'd express a few things a little differently now, but all major and most minor conclusions stand up despite screeching from Mannians
3/ Marcel's talk begins with anecdote on his encounter with us and the bizarre refusal of climate community to concede an important error in Mann hockey stick calculation and proxy use, but most of talk is on broader issues especially thorny issue of model over-sensitivity.
4/ despite my interest and invested time in paleoclimate issues, I think that the larger issue for policymakers is whether the 1 deg C temp increase over last century has been beneficial/neutral and whether reasons for predicting catastrophe from another 1 deg C hold up?
5/ Marcel is also a fine tennis player. I'm a big tennis fan. Good at squash, but mediocre tennis. We met just as the present golden age of great tennis began. We keep in touch about relative merits of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.
