I was supposed to begin my journey to #Karachi tonight to speak at @KhiLitFest but @qatarairways has cancelled all flights to #Pakistan. I hope for the sake of everyone in Pakistan and #India that tensions de-escalate. And I hope to return to Pakistan soon.
I have many friends in #Pakistan and #India and I have visited both countries before. I am thinking of all my friends there, send them all love and solidarity and hope to see them again soon. It is very important for me that I continue to take my ideas to both countries.

Clearly, the long-running neglect by successive #Egyptian regimes of the rail network has claimed too many lives. And re yesterday’s tragedy, the long-running refusal to confront patriarchy & toxic masculinity - on state and street level - will also continue to claim lives.
A fight between 2 men killed 25 people. When I write or talk about feminism and the need to dismantle patriarchy, I hear “This isn’t the time!” When is the time? Men who benefit from patriarchy don’t care about its toll on others. It took a toll on 25 people yesterday. #Egypt

Fucking outrageous: A fight between two train conductors was behind the explosion that killed 25 people in the #Egyptian capital’s main train station Wednesday. apnews.com/a938e263bfec4f…
The fight unleashed a speeding, unmanned locomotive that slammed into a barrier and exploded at Ramses Station. Railway officials said the single railcar collided head-on with the buffer stop, causing a huge explosion and fire. At least 47 people were also injured. #Egypt
“#Egypt’s Prosecutor General Nabil Sadek said investigators determined the locomotive’s conductor had left his car to fight with another conductor whose railcar was blocking his.” But the conductor left without putting on the brakes and the other car began moving backward, freeing the locomotive, which then gathered speed and hit the concrete-and-metal barrier, exploding.<br /> <br /> “The driver left the railcar without taking any measures to brake it,” Sadek said in a statement.

Okay lets do an India/Pakistan update

Pakistan have shot down 2 Indian jets, and have closed all airspace to commercial flights.

The escalation came a one day after the Indian Air Force bombed a "terrorist training camp" inside Pakistan.
Pakistan’s PM @ImranKhanPTI currently addressing the nation:

"We didn't take action earlier without assessing our own damage from Indian airstrikes...Two Indian MiGs that entered Pakistani airspace today after our retaliation were shot down. But where do we go from here?"
In direct breach of the Geneva Convention, an Indian Air Force pilot tied up and filmed by Pakistani captors

#Breaking - Some defense sources report #Indian air strikes across the Line of Control in Muzafarabad, #Pakistan. Indian air force briefing expected later today. Pakistan said Indian jets dropped their payloads & "fled". More confirmation of details needed.
There are also reports of dual, air and ground Indian strikes in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir. No official word yet. Waiting for updates. Stay tuned.
There are also reports that 2 Pakistani JF-17s fighter jets have been shot down.

Breaking: Large terrorist attack in #India. More than 40 Indian Reserve Police Force personnel were killed and many others injured when Pakistani backed terrorists targeted a convoy with a car bomb at Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir's today, ndtv.com/india-news/15-…
Reports suggested that the vehicle used by the terrorists was a Mahindra Scorpio carrying more than 350 kg of explosives in what is the worst attack ever on security personnel in the state.
Sources said that terrorists triggered the car bomb while 78 vehicles with over 2,500 reserve police men were on the Srinagar-Jammu highway. The stretch on which the incident occurred had been sanitized in the morning & authorities called it a serious breach of security.
