1/ As I often do, I'm going to say something offensive, though it won't seem offensive a first.
We shouldn't judge somebody according to the group they belong to. Just because a terrorist is a Muslim doesn't mean all Muslims support terrorism.

2/ Likewise, just because somebody is Muslim doesn't mean we should ask them to condemn terrorism. Maybe in some limited cases: if you publicly praise Hamas's community charities, then maybe you should be expected to condemn their support for terrorism. But not in general case.
3/ This isn't controversial because I say "Muslim". If I change the group to one you don't like, then this principle changes.
4/ I say this because of this tweet. At an event, an exhibitor put up an offensive/racist sign. Organizers quickly had the sign taken down. Nonetheless, members of the group are all asked to condemn it.
5/ Yes, when Republicans express support for Trump, we should ask them to condemn his "Muslim ban". But just become somebody does something the party officials quickly condemn doesn't mean it reflects on the party, as in this case.
