This guy you’ve never heard of who runs Blue Cross of Michigan makes more money than the entire U.S. Senate put together.
Blue Cross of Michigan is a “nonprofit.”
This is one reason why there is a LOT of lobbying power against having a public option compete against private insurers for ACA customers. The head of CMS makes about $200K/year.
So, Blue Cross of Michigan actually has an explainer on the virtues of its nonprofit status. Sample quote: "This approach puts people before profits."
The CEO of this nonprofit makes *$19 million* a year.
Not surprisingly, they don't mention that.

On Senate floor Mitch McConnell rips a federal holiday for Election Day as part of a “power grab” by Democrats to win elections.
McConnell said Democrats want “generous new benefits for federal bureaucrats and government employees” including Election Day holiday and up to six days of paid leave “for any federal bureaucrat who decides they’d like to hang out at the polls during an election.”
McConnell thinks those federal workers would use their time off to work to elect Democrats.
He also ripped federal matching funds for candidates, etc. in HR 1, which he calls “The Democratic Politician Protection Act”

Wait 'til somebody tells Schultz what the top income tax rate was under FDR.
FDR actually proposed a 100% tax rate during WWII!
FDR: "no American citizen ought to have a net income, after he has paid his taxes, of more than $25,000 a year."
Congress enacted a *94%* top rate.
AOC's 70% top rate would have made her a flaming moderate back then.
