Here's one of the main reason why US food standards are so much worse than EU ones. In a nutshell, in the EU manufacturers must err on the side of caution if there's any doubts about the safety of something. In the US, the burden of proof is much higher.

Manufacturer stockpiling is at an all-time record high, with 70% of companies citing Brexit as the reason. So by definition the UK economy is worse than the headline figures suggest, because those goods are recorded as "output" but they're not sold.

In other words, if a company stockpiles e.g. £15 million of products, that's recorded as economic growth. But that stack of unsold goods is sitting gathering dust in a warehouse, so the company's not seeing a penny from it as a result. Plus it's out the storage costs as well.
Across the whole of the UK, there must be mountains of products worth £billions just sitting in warehouses. Imagine the drag on our economy - like trying to drive with the handbrake on.

You know the service sector, the one that makes up 80% of our economy. The one that hardly gets mentioned in Brexit discussions. Do you know WHY it never gets brought up? Because it's so politically toxic, it would be the equivalent of deliberately urinating on an electric fence.
Yes, that's right. In the event of a no-deal Brexit, *nothing* stays the same for UK firms exporting services to the EU/EEA and EFTA countries. Good luck with that!

So, like He Who Shall Not Be Named, MPs shy away from mentioning the service sector, the Voldemort of Brexit. Doesn't mean that elephant of a problem isn't there. Just means it's not getting a fraction of the attention it deserves.

Here's a breakdown of the DOJ indictments against Flynn partners, Bijan Kian and Ekim Alptekin, including some comments that Alptekin made to me back after I started reporting on all of this two years ago. dailycaller.com/2018/12/17/mic… @dailycaller
Long story short, Kian and Alptekin worked covertly at the direction of the Turkish government to secure Fethullah Gulen's extradition. They engaged in an $80,000 kickback scheme. Flynn knew that Turkish officials were being briefed on the project, but he is not charged.
Here is one of the main email exchanges I had on March 8, 2017 with Ekim Alptekin. He falsely denied having anything to do with the infamous Flynn op-ed. He denied receiving a kickback. He falsely claimed he did not arrange UNGA meeting.

3/ to address complaints about threats and "improve the dialog" Twitter introduced the "quality filter." You see fewer threats and hate speech. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THERE'S LESS OF IT.

1. Watching the #Brexit debate unfold on my timeline is increasingly surreal. Tory drones are mounting an anti-chequers campaign despite all the signals from Barnier that the EU is not even willing to entertain it. And it gets even weirder...
2. The chief objection to Chequers is it would tie us to EU standards which would prevent us from diverging, which in their view restricts an independent trade policy. They are not even on this planet. For a start, divergence is a sure fire way of kill our trade with the EU.
3. Divergence and relaxed standards means that any goods travelling from the UK to the EU face a higher rate of inspection. That alone is enough to kill a supply chain. But it doesn't even make any sense in respect of trade with the rest of the world.
