I think it's important to talk about HOW to learn from your favorite artists instead of just copying. How to develop your own style based off of what you like vs copying.
1) try to figure out WHY you like this persons work so much. Really study it past the shiny details. Is it their way of rendering? How do they "build" their compositions? How do they make your eyes move around the picture? If you squint, what is the first thing you see?
What do you ACTUALLY like, and put words to it. I've learned that "A-ha!" moment comes most often when you talk about art. A common assignment I had in art history classes was learning how to describe art as if you needed someone with sight impairment to recreate it.

In the light of recent events there is a lot of talk of what bad clients look like. I wanna also shed light on what a GOOD client looks like and how to make sure you're creating healthy work relationships with artists and creatives, even for small gigs.
1) Your artists are your collaborators. The best work comes when you let people do the job their best at. You're not hiring a drawing arm, you're bringing someone on who has ideas, opinions, and a different perspective to help create the best version of your concept.

2) your number one job when hiring an artist? COMMUNICATION. You need to be readily available to answer questions, clarify, tweak, scrap, and reconsider. Creative process is a beautifully flexible thing when done right.

Went to Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan today. Official population at 53,967, according to @UNHCR as of February 2018. All Syrian #refugees.

In many ways it was not what I expected.
First thing you notice is how remote the location is — some 100 kms east of Amman; 20 kms from Azraq town; 75 kms to Saudi Arabia; 255 kms to Iraq; and 90 kms to the Syrian border — from which its inhabitants fled.
At the same time, the harshness of the setting — a hardscrabble, sprawling 15 square km patch, scratched, etched and stretched out of endless rolling desert.

The perimeter was equally formidable, with security fencing, official patrols, check points and razor wire.
