It's been reaffirmed by the Immigration minister that NI born Irish citizens cannot avail of the EU settlement scheme to secure their EU rights because they 'are British'

A position that flies in the face of the Good Friday Agreement right to be accepted as Irish 1/
Nothing in the Withdrawal agreement or Settlement scheme papers on this exemption & could leave NI born Irish citizens among the only EU citizens within the UK that cannot apply

The continuation of the presumption that we're all automatically British is deeply worrying #Brexit
This is following an acknowledgement from Theresa May in Belfast last month that NI born Irish citizens have been experiencing issues in securing their EU rights and be accepted as Irish under the Good Friday Agreement.

She pledged to 'urgently review' these cases
Since them we've seen a further hardening of the UK governments position that Irish citizens in Northern Ireland are British, irrespective of their right to be accepted as Irish under the Good Friday Agreement.

This position is evidenced in the immigration ministers statement.
