1/ We share this info from a trusted source: Time to Change have got a new model. They call this a Time to Change Hub.

Time to Change are giving £25,000 to organisations across the country.
2/ They're calling these organisations "Time to Change Hubs".

There are several features of hubs. The organisations are local to a particular area: some are in cities, some are across a county. The organisations have to have "lived experience leadership".
3/ The organisations have to focus on tackling mental health stigma and discrimination. They're allowed to use Time to Change branding. and there's some "training" available.

'Involvement' can be rewarding for service users and professionals when done well but when done poorly it can reinforce despair about improving services.
Involvement can be especially soul-destroying when service user leaders turn out to have got into their powerful service user roles by talking the talk while carefully not to rocking the boat when organisations involvement is poor/tokenistic.
Service user leaders might be willing to sell their soul to get into powerful/well-paid service user involvement roles but it's not only themselves they compromise; they set expectations with orgs that involvement isnt challenging & they disillusion SUs who do challenge.

In 2011 I was bitten by a tick (after being on antibiotics for 19 yrs). My rescue dog was bitten & died the next day. Wasn't treated for 11 mos- I had E. Chaffeensis, Rickettsia, & prob.#Lyme in spinal fluid & brain. Caught Coxsackie B4, cousin of polio & lost most use of L side.

I should move out of (damp and mouldy) Scotland to a drier country - I’d lose my entire support network. I would no longer be eligible for UK disability benefits, and I won’t be eligible for social security in whichever country I move to. What will I do for money and support?
Take up meditation - I’ve tried, it makes me anxious. I have other methods of relaxation.

#Afflicted is heavily slanted toward the erroneous assumption that the chronically ill patients are

faking,

have psychological illnesses rather than physical diseases,

or somehow in denial.

Today I'm going to tweet a bit on #mypainday about my experience with chronic pain, bc I think it can be hard to understand if you don't have it.

I'll add some drawings from my pain sketchbook too. Because pictures! ✏ A colour pencil drawing on plain paper, of a fallen field maple leaf with a grey pigeon feather threaded through it in two places, via holes on either side of the midvein. The leaf is yellow, brown, and green, in a state of partial decay.
I have chronic pain because I smooshed 2 arts of my spine - the lumbar part at the bottom, and the cervical part at the top (my neck). This affects the spinal nerves that control my legs + foot, & arms + hands. So those are the parts that hurt.
I manage my pain with the smallest amount of medication that is still effective on any given day, physio exercises, psychological exercises, & a supportive partner #mypainday
