Given its #BudgetDay2023, it's important for voters to know that the #DWP has recently been ordered to release ‘sensitive’ research, commissioned in 2019, over concerns that sanctions have a NEGATIVE effect both on claimants’ health & finances.…
The internal DWP study was commissioned in 2019 after a cross party committee of MPs concluded that while there was NO evidence benefit sanctions incentivised people to get work, they did have a negative effect on claimants’ health & finances.
Benefit sanctions are in effect punishment fines whereby claimants’ benefits are docked for at least a month for supposed infringements, such as failing to search for jobs or missing a meeting with an employment coach.

Just returned from joint injections.Taxi drivers friend called him,man in a Bham job centre killed himself this morning in front of staff & clients after begging, screaming and crying for help. He had no food, money or family. 😥💔 #RIP. #ToryBritain. #DWP. #ToriesOut
I am absolutely distraught. The whole system is broken, and they just don't care. They have destroyed this country, and broken society for the majority of us, unless you are rich. The poor man was desperate 😥💔
The taxi drivers friend was attending an appointment with his 'work coach' at the time, and witnessed the tragedy. The victim was inconsolable before he ended his life, my heart breaks for him. How many others must die for them to see what they have done? 😥💔

2nd post I’ve seen in 24hrs on this topic.
People who think Labour’s reference to “working PEOPLE” instead of “working class” is not deliberate- think again. Rachel Reeves said it herself, in 2015!
What about sick/disabled? What indeed? #Labour #Vulnerable #Benefits
This lady, who has spoken to @Keir_Starmer on the issue, recognises the issue. There are many people who CANNOT work due to illness or disability, yet we are disparaged along with those who CHOOSE not to work. It is grossly unfair & cruel.
I receive PIP &, as I have a small ill health pension, the severe disability premium part of ESA. I do not receive council tax benefits or help with NHS costs. Frankly, I would 💯 prefer to work; I miss not being able to work; I never chose to get sick!

The chronic collaboration has been created in response to the recent refusal of NICE to publish the much awaited ME/CFS guideline. Many #pwME would like to protest this decision along with the years of medical neglect & mistreatment they have faced 1/5…
Due to the psychologisation of #MECFS after the scientifically flawed #PACEtrial, part funded by the #DWP btw. Not only has this caused medical abuse in patients with #ME (#MAIMES) its having a huge impact on the treatment & further investment of many other patient groups 2/5

Reflecting on #DWP's mindless return to conditionality & sanctions (despite it being a totally inappropriate response at this time & an ineffective & often counter-productive approach for many people) got me thinking about policy driven by a misplaced sense of morality 1/10
The assumption behind conditionality & sanctions is that people need the threat of losing their benefits to motivate them to find work. This is implicitly justified on the basis that people are getting something from the state & so have a moral duty to do something in return 2/10
Similar morality narratives shape (& are used to justify) policy around drugs and alcohol, homelessness, immigration &, most obviously, the criminal justice system. But the associated approaches of reward & punishment tend to be pretty ineffective in terms of outcomes 3/10

Tweeps: two weeks ago today, I nearly lost my life due to a very serious bilateral pulmonary embolism.

I had no symptoms at all, except for tiredness & a little breathlessness, which I attributed to other causes. When you're living with chronic mental ill health & ...1/

Over the course of about 8 hours on that Tues, tho, I started feeling faint & very weird. 2/
I got up to use the loo & collapsed, losing consciousness. When I came round, I couldn't breathe.

Luckily, I managed to reach my phone & paramedics from @Ldn_Ambulance came within 30 minutes.

Unluckily, I couldn't get to the door & ... 3/

1/4 The #Tory government has put #disabled & chronically ill people through hell the past 10 years. The reason? To stop fraudulent benefit claims and reduce cost. The outcome? Thousands of us died and thousands more suffered humiliation, #poverty & devastating health implications
2/4 The kick in the teeth is; the benefit reforms and #DWP errors actually cost more than the original fraud. On top of this, the Tory's removed all funding for vital services that many vulnerable people in society relied upon. #ToriesOut #Tories #Health #Benefits
3/4 Austerity measures were supposed to reduce debt and save the UK from financial crisis, yet National #debt is the highest it's ever been. The #NHS is on it's last breath, and many of us fear we will not survive another 4 years of #Tory lies, neglect and abuse. #VoteLabour

In 2014, I came to the attention of the #DWP work assessments. By the time they were finished with me (when the Tribunal found in my favour), I was homeless and DWP had dragged their heels so much that they owed me £5,000 (for which I was paying eye-watering interest to my bank).
They'd spent 18 months trying (successfully) to bully me, often sending me 2 or 3 of their brown envelopes a day, claiming I owed them £12,500 (I didn't), losing my paperwork, lying, etc etc - some of you will sadly have similar stories.

Tribunal told DWP to stop harrassing me.
Even though I was 65 that year, DWP went right on harrassing me, and (obviously) took forever before they paid me the £5,000 while I went on paying interest.

I still have no home of my own (not even rented), and now never will.

I can't prove the effect on my health...

At same period the UK Authorities, banks & state owned companies all converged with their plans to take our home, our car & our money, my mother's #DWP welfare benefit was also targeted on several occasions, the worst being what happened at #Adecco #Guardian #TheTimes #GMB
My mother was seeking #employment & arranged an appointment with #OfficeAngels who she was already registered with & had worked for, for years. However, the time & date of the appointment was at a similar time to that of her sign on with the #DWP. #Jobseekersallowance #Jobseekers

1.Just back from ESA appeal hearing for victim of horrific acid attack with 50% burns all over her face and body, is in constant pain and 'burning sensation', cannot move, sit or stand for long without pain and of course, there is the trauma. DWP awarded 0 points & fit for work
2. Since the attack, she's had 14 operations which have involved removing skin and bone to reconstruct parts of her face and body. The stress of the operations is significant and leave her bed-bound for weeks. Every operation makes her feel like it is a step back for that period
3. She rarely goes out and when she does it is local. To the GP, local shop or hospital appointment. Despite the compelling evidence, the healthcare professional at the work capability assessment decided that she is fit for work as none of the descriptors apply #socialsecurity

Revealing recent work on benefits: Jobcentre staff exit due to dissatisfaction with the austerity landscape within which #UniversalCredit emerges, increasing managerialist forms of governance, & ideological shifts in social & public administration.

The research by @KA_Garthwaite @joingold @mpmon, though based on a small sample, is valuable; not least because there’s little research on the practitioners responsible for implementation of #DWP policy, & it also reveals adverse impact on claimants.

@PollardTom’s report for @Demos argues the DWP is institutionally & culturally incapable of making reforms needed to improve outcomes for the ill & disabled, or for ‘harder-to-help’ groups. Important insights into DWP culture.

This all started because the #MetPolice & #LBRUT couldn't do their day jobs properly & decided to take the law into their own hands. It started as a small cover up 12 years ago but has turned into British State Persecution.

My company was raided. It should have been a straightforward matter. But the #MetPolice & #LBRUT forgot to seize my computer & came back to do a 2nd raid. The search warrant didn't permit a second entry, however, #LBRUT entered unlawfully

Complaints were then made to my MP #VinceCable. He liaised with the #Metpolice & #LBRUT. And then weeks later, the search warrant was completely changed & was passed off as the search warrant executed on the day of the raids.

💥For those calling me "fake news"

The #DWP are having to use legacy Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) for NEW claimants for a simple reason.

The High Court ruled in June it unfairly discriminated disabled claimants by removing their Severe Disability Premium (SDP)
This ruling applies to those on EITHER Personal Independence Payment (PIP) with daily living component or Disability Living Allowance (DLA) middle/high care component

If the DWP put new claimants on #UniversalCredit it would be making a two tier system for disabled claimants
They had a policy consultation until August to plan next move.

This consultation has come to the realisation it cannot put new claimants on UC as it would likely bring court action.

I was contacted by a Citizen's Advice (CAB) Manager concerned this hadn't been announced

The Adecco Arrest and Cover Up

Most organisations contain their problems, but some just look like amateurs

#Adecco #Metpolice #Lovewhatyoudo #CEO1Month #Leadership #Training
#Adecco did everything to try to avoid confirming my mother's attendance even going to the lengths of calling #MetPolice to arrest her
If someone's house gets burgled, the #metpolice haven't got the resources to turn up. However, if you request a confirmation letter at #Adecco which you require for #DWP, then @metpoliceuk are quick on the scene
