Tucker Carlson said the rape charges against notorious polygamist Warren Jeffs were "bullshit."

"Arranging a marriage between a 16-yr-old and a 27-yr-old" is not facilitating rape, he said.

Jeffs is currently serving life for child sexual assault.

This Apple News+ idea sounds absolutely horrible and I’m surprised that so many quality outlets are jumping on board.

The beauty of the subscription model is that it eliminates the need to chase clicks and allows publishers to focus on building meaningful relationships w/readers
Apple News+ cedes the relationship with readers to Apple and then makes publishers fight for clicks within the Apple News app to get paid.

And they are fighting for a much smaller pie after Apple takes a 50% cut of the revenue.
Apple isn’t really bringing anything to the table other than control of default apps

As someone who has started a modestly successful susbscription-based media product in the last six months (Popular.info), I can say that News+ would destroy everything I love about it

1. One thing that most coverage of the Barr letter lacks is PERSPECTIVE

Yes, people who were saying that the Mueller investigation would end with Trump being frog-marched out of the White House were wrong.

But I don't think this was a widely held view

2. The idea that the Barr letter proves the Mueller investigation was a waste of time doesn't make sense to me

Consider:

After the election Trump's official position was Russia didn't interfere and that no member of the campaign had contact with Russia

3. Mueller definitively established Russia did interfere with the election to help Trump and that there were numerous contacts between Russia and the Trump campaign

These contacts were not innocuous. The Trump Tower meeting. Manafort passing polling data

1. A few thoughts on the Mueller news.

No one commenting has read the report

The idea there are “no more indictments” by Mueller is driving a lot of coverage

But it’s a non-sequitur. The report summarizes Mueller’s work. By definition, it’s submitted when he’s done indicting
2. The report was not about more indictments. Interest in the report was about what Mueller has to say ABOUT TRUMP.

DOJ policy says a sitting president can’t be indicted, so a report would be how we learn if Mueller believes Trump engaged in wrongdoing
3. So perhaps Mueller’s report concludes that Trump didn’t do anything wrong and is complete vindication

But we don’t know

Until we know what the report says it’s probably best not to draw sweeping conclusions about the investigation
