#sxsw session notes: Creativity in the Age of Invention with Nick Law.

[thread]
Technology has always been essiantial in creativity.
New technology uses the grammar of the technology that came before. (Early film looked like theatre.)
Technology increases the ability to imagine something and execute it.
“Creativity is accelerated by connection.”
“Creativity isnconnecting two ideas to make a third idea.”
Story is the overlap of copy and art.

Experience is the overlap of story and innovation.
Framing creativity:

Story + system
Narrative + design
Time + space
Simplicity + Possibility
The best metric of creativity is what you make.

Creativity is not an idea.
Creativity is an action.

“Change is a design problem.”
“If you need different work, create a different team.”
Once upon a time the integration of Art Directors and Copy Writers was an innovation in creativity. What needs to be integrated today for the brave new world of today and tomorrow?
We need to change our relationship with technology.

Step one: don’t be afraid of it.
Step two: repeat step one.
data ➡️ knowledge

knowledge ➡️ inspiration

inspiration ➡️ inspirational leap
We must create things that will be useful two years from now, not just two days from now (or two years ago). // This is especially true for the church!
