I asked weeks ago when Joe Biden was going to have to answer for opposition to school deseg. Looks like the time has come. We can sum up so much with this quote arguing white people will become racist if their kids have to attend the type of schools black kids always have had to. 
I mean, with no sense of irony whatsoever, he acknowledges/presumes black schools are inferior even as he opposed measures to ensure black children received an equal education. This is the argument of 8 of 10 white people today when they tell me why we can't integrate our schools
This is the ongoing illogic masquerading as pragmatism -- that rectifying the affects of racism is what causes racism, that black people's rights must be curbed in order to keep white people from hating them, even though the conditions of black people were caused by racism.
So, racial inequality and white advantage must stay intact in order to keep white people from becoming racist! Makes perfect sense.
Not even a decade after Congress, in the wake of a bloody and deadly civil rights movement, passed the final of the civil rights acts ending legal discrimination against black people, Biden was arguing that enforcing Brown v Board was unfair to white people.
And let's be clear, children have ridden buses to school for as long as buses have existed. White people never had a problem with busing until it became a tool for integration. Millions of children ride buses every day.
In fact, prior to Brown, busing had been used for segregation. Linda Brown sued for the right to attend her neighborhood school because she was sent out of her neighborhood to a black school further away.
The Obama Administration's ethos was an embrace of this same separate but equal logic when it pushed expanding charters and choice over integration.
