Report by @ldhr_org today interviews 138 former detainees in Syrian custody & finds that almost half experienced extreme sexual violence. Some 90% were experienced forced nudity by their captors, with humiliation & terror that entails. Important research. ldhrights.org/en/?p=6412
No one knows the full extent of sexual violence against men in Syrian government custody. It is heavily underreported. Survivors deal with the trauma everyday, and often with little help from a psychological response network which is doing its best, but overwhelmed.
