This is a good piece from @jonathanchait. As he notes, Trump's conservative populism has turned out to be fraudulent. Trump has not been able to implement it, and in many areas, he's defaulted to Paul Ryan/GOP style plutocracy:

In some areas, Trump *actually has* implemented a xenophobic nationalist agenda. And the result has been massive public backlash and utter catastrophe:

@jonathanchait In sum, Trumpist conservative populism is a fusion of Ryan/GOP plutocracy in some areas with genuine nativist/xenophobic/fake economic nationalism in other areas.

Critically, it has proven to be a catastrophe on *both* fronts.

Big, big allegation in today's Michael Cohen testimony: Trump's lawyers signed off on his statement lying to Congress:
Cohen also addresses dispute over Buzzfeed article.

Cohen does say Trump didn't directly tell him to lie to Congress.

But Cohen suggests Trump *tacitly* told him to lie to the American people about Moscow project, which Cohen (apparently) took as directive re Cong testimony:

There's only one problem: "Victory" is not good history, to put it politely. The most basic critique is that the author didn't have access to US & Soviet archives when the book was published in 1994. You can find much harsher academic critiques online. 3/ amazon.com/dp/0871136333/…
