1) The @MOJ is seriously mishandling the transgender prisoner issue now.

2) High risk male sex offenders allowed to join women for activities including fitness sessions. This is a total violation of the women's privacy and dignity.

3) One of the male transgender prisoners has already given guards the slip and got onto the roof, repeating something they did while in a male prison. This is a farcical situation and the @MoJ have managed to create the worst scenario for vulnerable female prisoners.

4) We now have high risk males prisoners mixing with low risk female prisoners. We now have male sex offenders mixing with female victims of sexual abuse. Supervision by a guard is simply not good enough.

5) 'Without access to other offenders at the prison' must also include no visual access to women, particularly during physical activities like exercising and the gym. Women must not be subject to voyeurism by sex offenders. This is a disgrace.

6) Women in prison are more likely to have been victims of male violence. They might well have been raped, attacked, sexually assaulted. Some of them have post-traumatic stress disorder. A lot of them have panic attacks. A lot of them fear males – for damn good reasons

7) Are these women just supposed to shift over & make room for violent, predatory males & welcome them into their spaces? Does the MoJ really not understand that a lot of these women would avoid men, in the outside world? They’ve had grim experiences, in abusive relationships

8) And here, in a place where there is no escape, they have males – convicted criminals – brought in to sit next to them – or opposite them, watching them. The MoJ have just created the worst scenario for vulnerable female prisoners.

9) Many of the males will be sexual predators. They won’t have access to porn in prison. But they are being given access to females, to stare at them, to store up images of them in their mind’s eye. These women are being served up as prison porn images for these males.

10) The @MOJ have clearly not listened to sound advice from experts, from women’s organisations. Ask us, listen to us. Stop trying to make policy about us, without us. The MoJ have just created the worst scenario for vulnerable female prisoners.
