Brazil's fascist leader Bolsonaro immediately visited CIA headquarters on his first official trip to the US.

This is the perfect symbol for Latin America's far right, which has for decades drowned the left in blood thanks to the help of its CIA benefactor

Yes, there are some economic difficulties in Venezuela (caused largely by an economic war waged by the US and right-wing opposition). But I still did not see many homeless people there

Yet there are *significantly more* here in the world's richest country

I didn't see a single person eat out of the garbage over nearly 4 weeks in Venezuela. But I saw multiple people eat out of the garbage my first day back in NYC

I also saw more homeless people my first day back here than in all my time in Venezuela

The hypocrisy is breathtaking
The US is the world's richest country and largest empire, but has enormous numbers of homeless and hungry people

Venezuela is a formerly colonized country suffering under a crippling economic war, but still deals with these problems *exponentially better*

Some label him a “disruptor”. Bolsonaro’s victory marks far worse than disruption, for climate change across the world, for human rights in Brazil & the region, for minorities, for women. He came to power menacing far worse than disruption. Why would we not believe him? #brazil

1. China is the biggest country and only non-democracy in top-5. But even here General Secretary Xi Jinping has taken the country in a (even) more authoritarian and nationalist direction.
2. India, the world's largest democracy, has been governed by PM Narendra Modi and his radical right BJP-led coalition since 2014. MOstly ignored by international media, India has seen sharp rise of radical and sometimes violent Hindutva activism.
