A is for Adopt a plant rich diet. This is probably the easiest one. We don’t need everyone to become vegans.

B is for Buy carbon offsets – our second behavior. We only need 5% of Americans to start buying offsets and we get halfway to back on track.

C is for Contract green energy. Only 5% of Californians have made the magical phone call to request renewable energy – even though it is readily available throughout the state. So we have a behavior change challenge. And clearly an opportunity as well.

D stands for Don’t waste food. Food already accounts for 21% of all waste in the US. And most of it comes on the consumer end of the chain. A huge percentage of our emissions come from the landfills where, sadly, most of our wasted food ends up.

E is for Electric Vehicles – buy one! Of all the vehicles purchased last year in the US, 1.1% were electric. Compare that to our friends in Norway – at 39% last year.

F is for Fly one less time. This really only applies to the 5% of American business travelers who clog up our sky all year.

G is for Get engaged politically. Government action will fill the gap. And action is a powerful force.
