1/ Poor utilisation of government health services and lack of awareness of government health insurance impose a heavy economic burden on #LGBTIQ who are already vulnerable due to the stigma around their gender identity.
2/ Gender identity disorders in the WHO classification have been re-conceptualized as gender incongruence and distinguishes between conditions that are relevant to public health and clinical psychopathology and those that merely reflect private behaviour.
3/ We also know that the LGBTIQ community is marginalised and denied basic rights. Specific needs in the form of hormone therapy and gender affirming treatment is also mostly unavailable.

Today I cried at work but4 once they were happy tears coz we finally got clinically approved clear masks!
It was incredible seeing my wonderful colleagues swap over to the new masks as soon as the box arrived in Paeds A&E and being able to understand them instantly.

Its been a year of battling2 understand ppl thro masks, trying my hardest to be a good Dr, worrying abt burden I put on colleagues trying2 communicate w/me, trying to get thro training on par w/ my colleagues & loneliness.

Still processing the powerful discussion we had today in our #MA @ARUSociology session on #DecolonisingtheUniversity. A student shared her experiences of growing up in apartheid South Africa & feeling validated & 'seen' by the reading material. Became emotional as she talked
about how #apartheid affected her secondary & higher education in South Africa. Another shared his experiences of racism & racial abuse at his place of work in London, and how he'd envisioned a different kind of life in the UK when he migrated from Nigeria three years
ago. A third talked about being British in Zimbabwe and how her family had tried to convince her that the 'whites' were there to help the 'black people' and how she learnt to resist the 'civilising' narrative of #empire. A fourth discussed how her godfather rolled his eyes at her

Industry starting to confront #ethics in terms of daily applications of #AI algorithms. #Bias based on data - in the case of courts, potentially hundreds of years of biased decisions as part of the training set.

As she is paging through the magazine asking me questions I notice the amazing number of women that are featured. She definitely notices too. She asks me about many of them, and I tell her their stories.
