This is a collection of my tweets over the past ~2 years about a project I've been working on. Time and work fluctuated over that period.

It was called Sonic, then Hydra. Now it's called Rome. It's a JavaScript toolchain. It has zero dependencies, every thing is custom.
It has a linter, bundler, compiler, formatter, testing framework, dependency manager, and more. All of these make sense as a single system, they're all related.

Here are some other tweets where I talk about Rome, in chronological order:
All of these tweets seem fairly vague alone, but in aggregate they tell a larger story. This will be open source. I don't know when. I am the only one working on it (hopefully not for long). Happy to answer any questions.
It was called Sonic because it was going to be fast (still is). Then it was called Hydra because it has "multiple heads" ie. components. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kind of fucked that up though and I could only think of Nazis.
Rome has a lot of very apt metaphors. "Rome wasn't built in a day", "All roads lead to Rome". It was also part of a larger empire. All of these are a stretch but it sounds cool, and it's short enough as a CLI name.
Oh yeah and it also has a dope logo lol. It was originally some black and white SVG I bought the rights to off some stock photo site. With the help of @gabrielecirulli and @jamiebuilds (RIP), we cleaned it up and added color. Could be a lot more elegant and simple though.
Also before anyone says it. Yes, this is a Spartan helmet, which is Greek. It's not Roman. No, I don't care.
Another reason I didn't keep "Sonic".
Oh yeah! I just remembered another name. Vulcan. It sounded pretty dope but was too long and made me feel like a Star Trek nerd.
