Nigerians come lemme tell you something.
Employment is not a favor. It is not a gift. Unless you are giving someone free cash shut the fuck up about helping them. A job is an exchange of services for money. It is a two way contract. It is not kindness. It is business.
Try running your business without employees. Even if you run a fully automated business you need people to work on those machines. To build them. To install them. To service them. To fix them. Why do you employers act like gods and expect employees to have no rights?
In every standard work contract, both parties can terminate. The employee can quit. The employer can fire. The employee has a bankable service. The employer has a business that needs those services.

Sigh. Anyway, this is a society that has the hangover of a slave society.
The first job I had was in a computer school between 1999 and 2000 in Kaduna. I was teaching Basic Computer Software (and learning basic computer engineering). My boss used to throw his used handkerchiefs on the floor and ask the Secretary to pick it up and go wash it.
He would scream at the secretary. Berate her. Ask her to lie for him (he was essentially a scammer who has a string of debtors and girlfriends he was hiding from and she had to be the one who said: he is not on seat). I knew then that something was wrong. That this was sick.
And I just resolved never to let any boss insult me or treat me badly. Of course this means getting into trouble often in Nigeria. Thank god for writing.
I have seen bosses slap employees. Sexually assault them. Refuse to pay them. Insult them. Berate them. Ask them to run personal errands. My brother left a job in Abuja because his boss asked him to find him young girls on the weekend.
