There exists one possible future in which Mar-a-Lago “lock her up chants” are remembered much as we today remember Marie Antoinette’s “let them eat cake.”
There also exists a future in which school children learn about “lock her up” the way I was taught about “Give me liberty or give me death.”
It’s up to the current generation of voters and political leaders to determine what sort of future we will inhabit, and how the story of our current moment will be told.
