Before deducing that Trump is maybe not a Putin dupe, consider this @ryanlcooper take, 7/2018: "The way Trump behaves around Putin — quietly bowing & scraping, taking his word over America's own chief of intelligence... is simply wildly out of character. It just does not add up."

"You don't have to be a frothing nationalist to be concerned that the president is taking dictation from some ruthless dictator." In fact, on top of being a frothing jingoist, you have to be a frothing conspiracy theorist who ignores developments that undercut your narrative.

I agree w/ this. And I'd also include many other top left outlets including @democracynow (whose go-to Russiagate analyst was Marcy Wheeler) & the editorial leadership of @TheIntercept (Glenn Greenwald & Jeremy Scahill are not editors there, so this view does not refer to them).
Here's @TheIntercept's EIC mocking those who lack "nuance or intelligence"; believe "anything that the [IC] says can’t possibly be true"; & "continue to doubt the existence of some kind of relationship between Russia & the Trump campaign," which we know of "thanks to Mueller."
On top of the key assertion turning out to be blatantly wrong (we know there is no Trump-Russia conspiracy “thanks to Mueller”), there’s another irony in accusing skeptics of lacking “nuance” while falsely claiming we believe “anything that the [IC] says can’t possibly be true.”

1/ For those asking re: Manafort-polling data aka one of Russagaters' last hopes: Mueller has never claimed that Manafort sharing polling data w/ Kilimnik is evidence of collusion. Mueller only claimed that the polling data issue is material to his probe -- very different.
2/ Judge never ruled Kilimnik is Russian intel. She in fact said: "Whether Kilimnik is tied to Russian intelligence or he’s not… I have not been provided w/ the evidence that I would need to decide." ABJ only ruled Manafort’s alleged lie is material to scope of Mueller inquiry.
3/ On what basis did ABJ make that ruling? The language in Mueller’s appointment order, she said, "is sufficiently broad to get over the relatively low hurdle of materiality in this instance."
