Labour will whip for Common Market 2.0 tonight if selected by Bercow
I reported last month that Common Market 2.0 MPs were v encouraged by how talks with Corbyn had gone and believed that he would soon whip for it. He was enthusiastic in meetings, arriving with the CM 2.0 pamphlet & lots of Qs. Decent chance it passes now.
There’s some chatter that the Lib Dems are considering voting for Common Market 2.0 tonight. “No white smoke yet,” Lib Dem source tells me. They’re definitely thinking about it...

Theresa May will tomorrow hold talks with Merkel in Berlin and then Macron in Paris, ahead of the EU Council summit on Wednesday, her spokesperson confirms. She is set to have phone calls with other European leaders today.
The government “hopes” to have formal discussions with Labour on a possible Brexit compromise today but nothing is currently pencilled in, the PM’s spokesperson says.

Labour spox on Brexit talks with HMG:

"Today both sets of negotiating teams met for four and a half hours in the Cabinet Office for detailed technical discussions

"These talks are continuing and the teams are planning to meet again"

Starmer & Long-Bailey represented Labour
Downing St issues a similar statement on "productive" talks

"The Government & the Opposition hope to meet again tomorrow for further work"

David Lidington, Steve Barclay, Julian Smith, Greg Clark & Gavin Barwell represented HMG. Sarnies, fruit and biscuits served to attendees.
I’m advised “not to get over excited” about talks between HMG and Labour. Doesn’t sound like a great deal of progress has been made.

In theory Opposition now moves to public vote... but Corbyn’s retweet just after the defeat reiterated the “alternative deal”...

2. This "inward populism" has a longer history on the Left, which needs to be better understood. It draws on a serious argument about the character of British democracy, which was best summed up by Corbyn's mentor, Tony Benn.
3. Britain, Benn argued, was not a properly functioning democracy at all. It was “the last colony of the British Empire”, still governed - undemocratically - by a colonial elite. What was needed was “comparable to a national liberation struggle".

In her opening remarks, Sen. Feinstein mentions last night's news that Cambridge Analytica had access to Facebook users' private direct messages.
I hope someone asks Zuckerberg how Facebook can claim they didn't know Cambridge Analytica was still using data they harvested, given that FB sent employees to "embed" w/ the Trump campaign's digital team — so FB employees were working in the same office as Cambridge Analytica.
