Prediction Machines fundamental thesis is that "predictions" will become a measurable quantity, w rapidly expanding supply, and thus a cheaper & cheaper input benefiting then transforming existing processes. Historical paradigms = indoor lighting, then electricity, then compute.
The book argues the complements of "prediction," ie things that either help AI gather valuable training data to make better predictions (eg sensors on a self driving vehicle), or people who need easier to understand prediction distributions, will most benefit from the rise in AI.

It surprises me when people think #Scuttlebutt is for privacy, freedom of speech, and anonymity. That's very far from what characterizes the technology and the community.

Scuttlebutt is about putting "social" back into social networking.

We're not motivated by privacy, individual freedom, and anonymity. Don't get me wrong, though, these things are good to have, in contrast to a system like Facebook with privacy invasion and real world identities. Privacy is like water, I need it daily, but it's not my motivator.
Scuttlebutt has decent privacy, most content is public, some is encrypted (very private). We have individual freedom due to your data living 100% on your device. And you can be somewhat anonymous if you wish. But that's not the point of it.

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.

Gooooooooood morning Twitterverse! I'm an environmentalist who sees myself as a bit of a Captain Planet protégé. I am using science to help protect this wonderful world we live in. First things first: does anyone actually remember Captain Planet?!
Captain Planet was a 1990s cartoon aimed at kids but had a very strong environmental message throughout. It brought together the "Planeteers" who were kids that wanted to help make the world a better place. Pretty neat, huh?!
And why do I start my week on Twitter talking about kids' cartoons? Well, to me, science is about making positive change for society. And to do that, we need to get our messages out there & get people interested. Cartoons are a great way of engaging kids in science messages
