just thinking about the enormous energy that would be unleashed on the world if every woman got all the time back she’d spent wondering if she was fat and hating herself for being fat. my god. the world would change
what a crock the whole fatphobia-industrial complex is, and it steals so much time and energy and self love from us
it makes so many mothers hurt their daughters in such profound ways
also women literally die! anorexia is the most fatal of all mental disorders! so many wasted lives on the altar of thinness. so much sorrow. so much self-loathing. so much time.
and men are eaten up too, by it. and they keep it secret and hide it and run and run and run. it makes me so fucking sad. and then i think about the big, big, big money that results from making us feel like our bodies are problems to solve. and i get mad.
so the next time you look in the mirror ask who profits from you pinching your belly in loathing or dreaming of bisecting your thigh. it isn’t you. it’s something bigger, something broken, that breaks people again and again. take the time back. it was yours all along.
